The Virginia Beach restaurant that hosted Michael Vick’s birthday party has given police video that contradicts the account given by Vick’s attorney of the moments before a shooting early Friday, a restaurant partner told the Daily Press of Newport News, Va. Guadalajara spokesman Allen Fabijan said owners turned over surveillance video to police Tuesday. Vick’s attorney has said Vick left well before the shooting. Fabijan said two cars carrying Vick, an Eagles quarterback from Newport News, and his entourage left at 2:07 a.m. Three minutes later, shots rang out from the direction the cars had gone, Fabijan said. An unidentified eyewitness told the newspaper that shooting victim Quanis …

Vick’s account is challenged
A spokesman for the Virginia Beach, Va., restaurant/bar where a 30th birthday party was held for Eagles quarterback Michael Vick said the establishment has surveillance video that conflicts with the account of Vick’s attorney of the moments before a shooting early Friday morning. A man identified in media reports as Quanis Phillips was shot in the leg as the party was breaking up. Vick’s attorney, Larry Woodward, said Phillips, a co-defendant of Vick’s during his 2007 dogfighting case, was an uninvited guest who was thrown out of the party before the shooting. Woodward has said Vick was gone long before the shooting. Allen Fabijan, a spokesman for the bar-restaurant, the Guadalajara, told …

Nightspot surveillance video said to dispute Vick’s story
Michael Vick and his attorney, Larry Woodward, met with Virginia Beach detectives yesterday to answer questions arising from the shooting early Friday morning of one of Vick’s dogfighting codefendants outside a restaurant/bar where a 30th birthday party for the Eagles quarterback had just broken up. “The case is still being investigated,” police spokesman Adam Bernstein said. “The case is currently assigned to a homicide detective. Over the last several days, numerous people have been interviewed by detectives. This afternoon, Michael Vick, along with his attorney, came to Virginia Beach Police Headquarters to speak with detectives. He answered the detectives’ questions. “The investigation …

Using his index finger, DeSean Jackson drew up a route. The football was his chalkboard and two wiry campers were his pupils. Coach Jackson knew this pump-and-go would get the corner to bite. The quarterback and receiver lined up and connected for a deep, easy-does-it touchdown. “We’re going to be burning DBs all day!” Jackson yelled, arms outstretched in elation, during his weeklong youth football camp that began yesterday at Moorestown Upper Elementary School with about 75 participants. Jackson has been burning plenty of DBs during his first two seasons with the Eagles – something that would suggest he deserves a new contract. “There has been no progress so far,” he said. “I’m looking …

A codefendant in Michael Vick’s dogfighting case was the apparent victim of a shooting that occurred outside a Virginia Beach nightclub where the Eagles quarterback was celebrating his 30th birthday party. Vick was not involved in the incident nor was he present at the time of the early Friday morning shooting, his attorney, Larry Woodward, told the Associated Press. Virginia Beach police have not identified Vick as a “person of interest” in the shooting. “We have no information that [Vick] was involved in any way, shape or form,” police spokesman Adam Bernstein said. The Eagles released a statement Friday afternoon that said in part: “We are aware of the incident that occurred in …

Man shot outside of party for Vick
The good news for Michael Vick this afternoon might be that the Virginia Beach police say he is “of no interest to us” as they investigate a shooting that occurred early yesterday morning outside a restaurant where Vick reportedly had been celebrating his 30th birthday. However, given the stringent protocols of Vick’s reinstatement to football last year by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, it might not be a great thing for the Eagles backup quarterback that a man identified by Virginia Beach General Hospital as Quanis Phillips, one of Vick’s 2007 dogfighting codefendants, suffered a nonlifethreatening wound in the incident. Vick is not supposed to associate with anyone from his dogfighting …

It was previously believed that veteran RB Brian Westbrook could play for the Broncos, Rams or Redskins this coming season. But that short list might have expanded. NFL.com senior writer Steve Wyche said Thursday on “NFL Total Access” that “more teams” are now interested in Westbrook’s services, although those teams weren’t revealed to him. For now, those teams remain a mystery. But that nugget from Wyche might help explain why Westbrook has been taking his time finding a new home this offseason.

It seemed like such a simple request of the kids at Kevin Kolb’s second annual football camp. Yet, it was with reluctance that the 8- to 11-year-olds did what Kolb asked. “Go Eagles!” was more like “go eagles?” “I can tell you I’m the biggest diehard Cowboys fan there is,” said Kreg Kimple, a Stephenville coach whose son, Payton, was participating in the camp. “But for what Kevin does for the community here, I’m pulling for the Eagles for 14 games a year, and I want him to do well in the two games against the Cowboys. I just hope the Cowboys win.” Kolb might have a harder time converting his hometown into Eagles fans than he will of fulfilling a goal of becoming a Pro Bowl quarterback. The …

THE EAGLES will be bringing a version of the halftime show you can watch at home to Lincoln Financial Field. As part of an NFL initiative, the league is making its highly popular NFL RedZone Channel available in every stadium this season. Each team can decide whether and how often it wants to use the live video. The Eagles have built a studio inside the Linc and will air a live halftime show on the video boards and television monitors inside the stadium, according to Tim McDermott, an Eagles senior vice president and the team’s chief marketing officer. McDermott said the show will have first-half highlights from the Eagles game, league highlights from the RedZone Channel, and a package …

Eagles get into the Zone
The Eagles have a little more roster massaging than usual to do this year, with a whopping 13 drafted rookies; the draftees don’t count toward the roster limit until they sign, so the team was able to bring in way more players for OTAs than it will welcome at Lehigh on July 26. Yesterday, with three draftees left to sign, the team announced it had released rookie free-agent corner Devin Ross, from Arizona. A team source said one more player will have to be released for the Birds to sign all the remaining draftees – fifth-round wideout Riley Cooper, second-round corner Nate Allen, and first-round defensive end Brandon Graham.

Eagles have one more cut to make
The flurry of Eagles signings continues. The team agreed to a 4-year contract with defensive end Daniel Te’o-Nesheim yesterday, meaning 10 of their 13 draft picks have signed with nearly 6 weeks left until training camp. The unsigned picks are first-round defensive end Brandon Graham, second-round defensive back Nate Allen and fifth-round wide receiver Riley Cooper. Eagles general manager Howie Roseman and Cooper’s agent, Joel Segal, say there is no problem, they just haven’t been able to get together yet to hash out a deal. Segal also represents Graham.

Eagles sign defensive end Te’o-Nesheim
The Eagles on Wednesday signed defensive end Daniel Te’o-Nesheim, their third-round draft pick. He was chosen 86th overall out of Washington and signed a four-year contract. Te’o-Nesheim finished his college career with 30 sacks, a Washington record. He is part of a remade defensive- end grouping that includes Pro Bowler Trent Cole, Juqua Parker, first-round pick Brandon Graham, and Darryl Tapp, acquired in an off-season trade with Seattle.
