With the 0-4 Tampa Bay Buccaneers coming to town this is a must start for all relevant Philadelphia Eagles starters in all league formats. Donovan McNabb has had 3 weeks to rest and heal his broken ribs to come back for the perfect matchup against the 19th ranked pass defense in the NFL.
Brian Westbrook has also had time to nurse his ankle sprain which kept him sidelined in the Eagles last game against the Kansas City Chiefs. B West is a must start as he faces a defense who surrendered 226 rushing yards to the New York ‘Football’ Giants in Week 4. Look for him to break a few long ones.
With a healthy Donovan you know Andy Reid will be looking to air it out, a
LOT. ‘From the obvious name department’ as Matthew Berry says, DeSean Jackson is an absolute start as well as the 3rd overall tight end in Fantasy Football, Brent Celek. Celek was the beneficiary of ‘his boy’ Kevin Kolb the past two weeks, so keep an eye on how many times Donovan looks his way. Stud rookie phenom Jeremy Maclin looks to be in line for his second consecutive start with Kevin Curtis still having issues with his knee. Maclin is a possible WR3/Flex play in 12 team or deeper leagues.
And the #1 overall defense in the NFL, the #2 defense against the pass in the NFL, and the #7 defense against the rush in the NFL; otherwise known as the Philadelphia Eagles D, yeah you start them too. Oh and Jeremiah ‘The Axeman’ Trotter is back and getting the nod at the MIKE. ‘Bout to tear the doors off the Cadillac.
Look I’m a huge Eagle fan and always support my guys, but I am also a very competitive fantasy football player, who spends way too much time following this stuff daily (when I should be working). These guys are must starts, look for all to score at least one TD besides Maclin.
Happy Fantasy Football Friday.
Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb won’t make a full recovery from his broken rib for another few weeks, but with some added protec
tion he’ll be ready for Sunday’s start. McNabb will make his first start since the season opener against 0-4 Tampa Bay, most likely wearing a protective flak jacket around his ribcage underneath his jersey. McNabb said he occasionally feels some pain, like when he’s sleeping on his side or making sudden movements, but doesn’t expect to be hampered on the field. He can still fling it, he said, downfield or along the sideline. “It will be four weeks come Sunday and the bone is definitely healing,” he said. “You obviously have to take a lot of calcium and zinc and …

Michael Vick definitely looks the part. I bet adding 20 pounds of prison muscle sure helped. Even if this guy is 85%, he is still faster then half of the NFL.

Can’t wait to see his first snap from center.
Had the opportunity to take in the Eagles first preseason game against the NE Patriots thanks to a good friend. One of his companies clients apparently has a bunch of tickets in the Presidential Suite. I must say, it was definitely the best view in house and the only way to watch Eagle games.
Once you walk in, you were greeted with a giant buffet and lounge area with a nice size bar at the opposite end of the room. From there you walked into your designated suite which was set with stadium seating and a stocked fridge full of free beers. Here is some pics of the view:

Hopefully he can get some of these tickets for a regular season game.
Jay Leno had his big sendoff show Friday night, and guess who made a highlight reel: Ex-Eagles receiver Freddie Mitchell. That’s right, “FredEx,” “First-Down Freddie,” “the People’s Champ,” as he called himself … the man who sported a wild Frohawk at a conference championship. Actually, Mitchell was a UCLA student during the Leno encounter – although the word “student” might seem debatable, given the contents of the clip. Leno was there taping a bit for “Jaywalking,” a regualar segment where softball questions elicit knuckleheaded answers. Friday’s Tonight Show finale featured “some best moments … from 17 years of Jaywalking,” Leno said. Drag Me to Hell might be less scary. We learned …

In another indication that Jim Johnson’s battle with cancer is more serious than they’re allowing, the Eagles are ready to add former Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Brian Stewart to their staff, according to a team source. Stewart hasn’t officially signed a contract yet but was in Philadelphia and is expected to sign sometime this week, the source said. The Eagles begin full-squad minicamp Tuesday. The Eagles haven’t issued an official announcement and probably won’t until Stewart is officially inked. Even while Johnson is away on an indefinite leave of absence to continue treatment for melanoma, the team has publicly maintained optimism that their longtime defensive coordinator …

He left behind a law enforcement job and steady paycheck for one of the least stable professions in sports. Not that Ken Parrish is second-guessing his decision one bit. To get a second chance with the team he grew up watching is worthy every sacrifice the Eagles’ newest punter has made. “Being able to call yesterday and tell my parents that I signed with the Eagles …” Parrish said Thursday after his first practice at the NovaCare Complex. “My mom was screaming at work.” Parrish nearly gave up football after the 49ers released him in 2007 despite an impressive preseason in which he averaged 43.5 yards per punt and dropped two of his four punts inside the 20. He worked out for the …

Eagles signed Wake Forest K Sam Swank.
Though a Lou Groza Award finalist in 2007, a nagging groin injury in his senior season kept Swank from getting drafted. With legit NFL leg strength, he’s landed in an interesting situation. David Akers is coming off a disastrous NFC Championship Game performance and is no longer reliable beyond 40 yards.

With reports circulating that he may need more ACL surgery, Philadelphia Eagles fifth-round pick from the University of Florida, Cornelius Ingram claims his knee is “100 percent.”
He’ll participate in upcoming minicamps. Ingram can’t block, hasn’t played football since 2007, and rookie tight ends rarely do much. We can’t imagine him making much of a first-year impact. Brent Celek’s starting job is safe.

The smart thing for the Eagles to do became the easy thing the moment Bill Belichick agreed to trade Ellis Hobbs: Bid farewell to Sheldon Brown now, if not sooner. That would have been the smart move, anyway. Now that they have a better, younger player to replace the disgruntled cornerback, there should be no hesitation. The sooner Brown is out of town, the better. Trade him if possible, release him if necessary. If the Eagles can’t work through that process before this weekend’s full-squad minicamp, they should tell Brown not to come. The absolute wrong thing for the Eagles to do – and the thing they’ve publicly indicated they will choose in spite of reason and several hard-learned lessons …

Time to cut Sheldon Brown loose
A quick check of some well-trafficked Eagles message boards reveals a sentiment we don’t often see following the draft. If I’m reading these comments correctly, it appears, on the whole, that Birds fans are . . . happy. Wondo40: “The Eagles are having a nice off-season. Fly Eagles Fly!” Tek9: “Eagles front office should get plenty of credit for what they have done! We’re quick to call them out, let’s be quick to say they get the job done.” Whatadraft: “A in my book.” And my favorite: Robx46: “Welcome Maclin, you seem like a good dude. Learn to hate the Cowgirls!” Brilliant. Robx46 is destined to hold public office. I had to check to make sure I wasn’t surfing sites dedicated to the …

Draft makes Eagles fans forget how to boo
JEFF WEACHTER sounds like a parent sometimes when he talks about LeSean McCoy, biased and proud and hopeful and the rest. Weachter sounds like a football coach sometimes when he talks about the Eagles’ second-round draft choice, too, cold and clinical and sharp-eyed and unforgiving. Weachter coached McCoy at Bishop McDevitt High School in Harrisburg. McDevitt also produced Ricky Watters, back when. Weachter did not coach Watters, but he is like the rest of us, interested in the comparisons between the two running backs. Weachter says he has a witness. “My defensive coordinator was there when Ricky played,” Weachter said. “He told me that at the end of LeSean’s junior year, he was better …
