Buckley impresses in first contact day at Eagles training camp

“Crunch Time” is a look at the hits and some misses from yesterday’s action at Eagles training camp:* Eldra Buckley, the running back the Birds picked up off waivers from the Chargers a while back, spent the rookie-and-select-vets days showing off the worst hands since Kris Wilson last year. But yesterday, when the pads went on, Buckley got the chance to run the ball instead of trying to catch it, and suddenly he was a different guy. Buckley had the run of the day, up the gut, then cutting outside. Overall, he seemed to seek contact, twice losing his helmet in collisions.* Joe Mays tried to arm-tackle Lorenzo Booker in the backfield, but Booker twisted out of his grasp. Mays, obviously …
