Cancer sidelines Johnson

Jim Johnson’s second bout with cancer in eight years has prompted the Eagles’ defensive coordinator to step away from his job for an indefinite time. Johnson, who turns 68 May 26, will continue undergoing treatment for skin cancer that has metastasized to his spine, the Eagles said Monday — two days before the start of Organized Team Activities. Eagles’ defensive-secondary coach Sean McDermott will run the defense until Johnson returns. McDermott filled Johnson’s role earlier in the offseason as the coordinator underwent treatment.
