Cleveland Browns give CB Sheldon Brown $5 million signing bonus after trade with Eagles

Browns cornerback Sheldon Brown received a $5 million signing bonus from the Browns after being acquired in a trade with the Eagles last month, a league source told the Plain Dealer. The trade was contingent on more money for Brown, who demanded a trade by the Eagles a year ago because they refused to renegotiate his contract with four years remaining. The Browns did not extend the deal, which runs through 2012, but added the signing bonus and modified some other parts of the deal. A ninth-year pro, Brown will battle for a starting job with first-round pick Joe Haden and veteran Eric Wright.
