Dallas Cowboys hope to end drought of playoff wins

Riding the crest of three Super Bowl championships in four years, “America’s Team” steamed into the playoffs after the 1996 season with understandably high expectations. When the Dallas Cowboys opened with a 40-15 thumping of Minnesota, those prospects were heightened further. Little did anyone in the Cowboys organization figure then that that would mark the team’s most recent postseason victory. “It’s surreal to be sitting here even having to answer that question,” owner Jerry Jones told reporters in Dallas earlier this week. “I wouldn’t have dreamed in ’96 that we wouldn’t have (won) a playoff” game.
