Eagles add ex-Cowboys defensive coordinator to staff

As expected, the Eagles bolstered their defensive coaching staff Monday. They named former Cowboys defensive coordinator Brian Stewart as a special assistant to the defense and announced that Stewart, whose expertise is with defensive backs, will work closely with the secondary. Stewart’s addition allows secondary coach Sean McDermott to carry out his responsibilities as interim defensive coordinator in place of Jim Johnson, who left the team to continue treatment for cancer. Despite Stewart’s play-calling experience in Dallas, all indications are that McDermott would retain the defensive coordinator post if Johnson doesn’t return.
