Eagles cuts linebacker they acquired via trade last season

With the exception of fullback Leonard Weaver’s new contract, the Philadelphia Eagles have been relatively quiet on the first day of free agency. But just because they aren’t out there signing free agents to make a run at a title, doesn’t mean they have a problem letting starters from the 2009 playoff team go. Dave Spadaro of Philadelphia Eagles.com is reporting that the Eagles have released veteran linebacker Will Witherspoon. Witherspoon was acquired in a trade from the St. Louis Rams in exchange for wideout Brandon Gibson and a fifth round draft pick.
