Eagles in search of depth at running back

Along with figuring out their muddled quarterback situation, the Eagles also must address the second most important skill position on offense. They started to bolster running back depth last week, signing Canadian Football League standout Martell Mallett, who combined for 1,622 total yards and averaged 6.2 yards per touch for the British Columbia Lions this season. Mallett, who earned the league’s award for top rookie, caught 43 passes and carried the ball 214 times, numbers that suggest versatility comparable to Brian Westbrook’s skill set — although his former coach wouldn’t agree.
