Eagles make offer to Weaver

Leonard Weaver was one of nine restricted free agents to receive one-year offers from the Eagles yesterday, although the Pro Bowl fullback surely was hoping that a day of negotiations would net a multiyear contract. Talks ended last night without an agreement, but Weaver’s agent, Harold Lewis, said that they would resume today and that a deal was imminent. “We’re very close,” Lewis said. “There are some things they need to sleep on and there are some things I need to sleep on. The bottom line is Leonard wants to stay in Philly and the Eagles want him back. The rest is easy.” Weaver, 27, received a second-round tender from the Eagles.
