Hope you didn’t rush out and buy that Tony Curtis jersey when the former Cowboys tight end survived the Eagles’ weekend roster cutdown.Despite an impressive return last week from a high ankle sprain, culminating with a four-catch performance in the final preseason game, Curtis was axed yesterday in favor of Alex Smith, a tight end who had been released by the Patriots. A week ago, Smith was supposed to be coming to the Eagles in a trade for A.J. Feeley, but for whatever reason (perhaps the fact that you don’t inherit a contract if you don’t trade for the guy), New England ended up cutting Smith and the Birds ended up cutting Feeley.The Eagles have assigned Smith No. 82, so if you have an …
