Eagles, NFL reflect on legacy of Johnson

The reminders of Jim Johnson were everywhere Wednesday, whether visual, like the tribute on a grassy hill just beyond the end zone of one of the practice fields where the initials “JJ” were painted on the ground, or internal, like the fond memories that Eagles players and coaches all had of him. Johnson, the Eagles’ defensive coordinator since 1999, died Tuesday after a long bout with melanoma. He was 68. Johnson left a legacy greater than that of just an assistant coach. He was a mentor, a friend, a confidante and someone who could relate to players more than 40 years younger than him. “He was from a different generation than us, age-wise,” Eagles linebacker Stewart Bradley said. “But the …
