One month ago, 67-year-old Sherman Lewis was living in a retirement home outside Detroit, calling Bingo games, having his fare delivered by Meals on Wheels. Tonight, he’ll be sitting high in the press box of FedEx Field, commanding the huddle of the Washington Redskins offense. True story. Really, who could make that up? Lewis’ call-up from the geriatric center to offensive playcaller is just another laughable twist in the dysfunctional comedy known as the Redskins’ 2009 season. But while it’s fodder for 30 other NFL teams, the Eagles are taking very seriously the Redskins’ new playcalling chief.
