The first loss under Andy Reid and Donovan McNabb in any first playoff game resembled the Eagles’ last loss – and not just because the opponent, venue and lopsided outcome were all the same. The Eagles couldn’t stop the Cowboys from engineering long drives, they couldn’t get the ball to their most explosive playmaker and they committed more costly turnovers, all of which blended together in one of the worst postseason collages in the 11-year era of the franchise’s two pillars. The 34-14 wild-card spanking Dallas administered to the dunce cap-wearing Eagles in its grandiose new stadium Saturday night simultaneously brought closure to one tradition while restoring another.
