Eagles won’t let Samuel’s tackling slip
Cornerback Asante Samuel responded to the mounting critics of his less-than-reliable tackling. “I didn’t get signed here because I was a great tackler,” Samuel said. “Everybody [on the coaching staff] saw my film.” The Eagles shelled out $54 million over six years in the 2008 offseason, Samuel said, to pick off passes. So far, his four interceptions have matched his 2008 total and place him second in the NFL. Last year, Samuel picked off two passes in the playoffs, returning one of them 44 yards for a touchdown against the Vikings in the wild-card round and another 25 yards against the Giants in the divisional round.
