The Eagles haven’t said yet how many of their 10 prospective restricted free agents they might end up signing to deals before Thursday’s tender deadline. We do know that they are talking with Harold Lewis, agent for fullback Leonard Weaver, and on Saturday, Weaver said he thought a deal was close. As Lewis prepared to leave the NFL Scouting Combine yesterday, he said he’d had “good meetings” in Indianapolis with the Eagles, but that there was “nothing more to report than that.” The Birds are not expected to try to retain backup tight end Alex Smith.
