Hobbs is latest Patriots casualty

There is so much to like about cornerback Ellis Hobbs as a football player. The DeSoto product started all 16 games for New England in 2007 on the only 16-0 team in NFL history. He also started all 16 games on a 11-5 team in 2008, extending his streak to 41 consecutive starts counting playoffs for the Patriots. New England ranked sixth in the NFL in pass defense with Hobbs in 2007 and 11th in 2008. Hobbs led the AFC in kickoff returns last season with a 28.5-yard average and returned a kick for a touchdown for the third consecutive year. He set the NFL record with a 108-yard return in 2007.
