Injuries, preceded by a clearing of the throat, are always the lead item at an Andy Reid news conference. The Eagles’ coach does things that way as a matter of procedure, but the importance of those details should never be underestimated. You can analyze the red-zone and short-yardage failures that doomed the Eagles to defeat in the last two games, against Dallas and San Diego. You can lament the defense’s inability to make stops at the end of games and the stupid penalties that have piled up against the special teams.
