The lesson of all those cheesy, late-night horror movies is you need to kill the creature, not merely wound it. In other words, did anybody really envision the Giants still alive for an important late-season game against the Eagles — with the NFC East title not out of the question — after getting so bloodied in November? “We didn’t think we would have this chance,” Brandon Jacobs said yesterday. “They couldn’t kick us out when we were playing bad, so now you have to live with us.” Of all their losses this season, none stung the Giants more than a 40-17 embarrassment at Philadelphia on Nov. 1, hours before the Yankees and Phillies played Game 4 of the World Series across the street.
