Johnson’s vibrant legacy remembered

The electronic billboards outside Lincoln Financial Field told the tale. They read simply: Jim Johnson 1941-2009. On a beautiful, clear Friday afternoon, about 300 people gathered at the Linc to pay their respects to Johnson, the former Eagles defensive coordinator, who succumbed to melanoma on July 28 at the age of 68, leaving behind wife Vicky, two children and four grandchildren. They were all on hand to attend a private memorial service for the man who was known for his defense, the master architect of blitzes, and they were all there, Eagles past and present, Johnson’s former teammates at Missouri and many others whose lives he’s touched over the years. “It was tough on everybody,” …
