Jury still out on Eagles-Cowboys 2007 deal

IT DIDN’T seem like a very smart idea at the time, and it still doesn’t to a lot of people. But the Eagles have absolutely no regrets about the 2007 draft-day deal they made with the Cowboys. The Eagles had hoped University of Miami safety Brandon Meriweather would make it to them at No. 26 in the first round. But when Bill Belichick and the Patriots grabbed him with the 24th pick, the Eagles switched to Plan B. Which was trade down, get some extra picks, and take the hotshot quarterback out of the University of Houston, Kevin Kolb, early in the second round.
