Kickoffs not special enough for Parrish to remain on Eagles’ roster

One position battle came to an end yesterday when the Eagles cut kicker Ken Parrish, assuring a fourth year of Sav Rocca handling punting and holding duties. Parrish was only really a candidate for the 53-man roster as a kickoff specialist and emergency placekicker, but wasn’t significant enough of an upgrade over David Akers on kickoffs to warrant a roster spot, and he always was behind Rocca for the punting job. “Kenny did well, has done well,” special-teams coordinator Bobby April said. “He can punt in this league. I hope he gets a chance to punt in this league. Just right now, Sav’s punting is as good or better than anybody. It wasn’t enough to overtake him. We made the decision more
