McNabb’s future not in Eagles’ hands

The important thing to remember about the ongoing Donovan McNabb sweepstakes is that the Eagles don’t hold all the cards in this high-stakes game. To complete a deal, McNabb would likely have to agree to a contract extension first, or else who — besides the Raiders — would surrender a high draft pick for a player entering the last year of his deal? So, despite the Associated Press report late Thursday that McNabb isn’t going anywhere without a top-42 draft pick in return, and despite other reports that mystery teams (who, the Saskatchewan Roughriders?) are now bidding for the six-time Pro Bowl quarterback, the Eagles potentially remain at the mercy of McNabb and his personal travel …
