Reid sits Westbrook

Brian Westbrook’s next NFL snap probably won’t come until the season opener. Eagles coach Andy Reid decided to hold his Pro Bowl back out of the team’s third preseason game Thursday night against the Jacksonville Jaguars at Lincoln Financial Field, which means Westbrook probably won’t play until the Sept. 13 opener against the Carolina Panthers. Reid usually holds his starters out of the fourth and final preseason game — which is Thursday against the New York Jets at the Meadowlands — so it appears he’s comfortable with the idea that Westbrook needs no warm-up action to be ready for the season.
