Samuel down, so Hanson leaps at early opportunity

August 3rd, 2010

While Joselio Hanson said he doesn’t like to see anyone hurt, he seemed giddy to assume injured starter Asante Samuel’s spot at right cornerback on Monday. “I feel good out there with the ones,” Hanson said. “I always have and I don’t want anybody to get hurt, but it’s cool being out there with those guys.” Hanson, who has played a mix of nickelback and corner in his three seasons in Philadelphia, wants to be a starting corner at some point. “Of course,” Hanson said. “I feel like I can be a starter in this league.” Samuel sat out for the second straight practice Monday with what Eagles officials called a hamstring spasm. His status is day-to-day. Hanson appeared to leap on the opportunity.
