Sheldon Brown’s most vital contribution to the Eagles’ win Sunday night in Chicago could not be found anywhere on the stat sheet. His two tackles and his two passes defended did not in any way identify the toughness displayed by the veteran cornerback on a night when he had to play with one good leg. More than anything else, it was Brown’s unspoken leadership that meant the most to a team that desperately needed a victory at Soldier Field, and that’s why he felt so strongly this off-season that he deserved a better contract than his current one.
