IN YOUTH-OBSESSED Eagleland, it’s never a good thing to be the oldest guy in the room, because it usually means you’re going to be the next one out the door. With the offseason exoduses of Donovan McNabb and Darren Howard, the bull’s-eye now is on Juqua Parker’s back. The defensive end turned 32 last month, which makes him the oldest non-kicker on the team’s peach-fuzzed roster at the moment. But Parker hardly is sitting around waiting for a pink slip. “Ah, age ain’t nothing but a number,” he said yesterday after the Eagles finished a full-squad OTA under a broiling June sun. “I’m just trying to be a leader, man. Trying to show these young guys how to do it.” There are kids, kids …

Oldest Eagles Parker remains enthusiastic
Not long before he died, David Nesheim taught his son how to snap a football. The way Daniel Te’o-Nesheim looks at it now, that long-ago lesson from his father led to his playing defensive end for the Eagles. “The last sporting thing we did together was to go out in the backyard and he taught me how to hike the ball and he taught me how to long-snap,” Te’o-Nesheim said Thursday after another workout for rookies and selected veterans. According to Te’o-Nesheim, if he hadn’t followed his father into their Seattle backyard as a 12-year old for snapping instructions, he may have never chosen to play center on his first football team. And if he hadn’t told his high school coach - after quitting …

A long-ago snap got Eagles rookie started
ANDY REID WENT to bed happy last night. He traded up 11 spots in the first round for a Trent Cole clone, defensive end Brandon Graham, and managed to hang on to both of his second-round picks. The Eagles, who started the night with five of the first 87 picks in the draft, were able to move up from 24 to 13 by giving the Broncos their two third-round picks (Nos. 70 and 87). “We wanted to keep our two twos and have something to do [tonight], so you [media] guys would have to be here,” Reid joked after selecting the 6-1 3/8, 268-pound University of Michigan product. “We were able to do that. Those are two valuable picks.” Very valuable for an Eagles defense that finished 17th in the league …

Eagles can turn attention to secondary
Defensive end Darryl Tapp signed a one-year qualifying offer from Seattle Monday. Less than a day later, Tapp was headed toward a longer-term arrangement on the opposite side of the country. Seattle traded Tapp, 25, to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for pass-rusher Chris Clemons and a fourth-round pick in the next month’s NFL draft. Tapp will travel to Philadelphia Wednesday and undergo a physical exam. If there are no problems, he will sign a long-term extension with the Eagles, though he provided no specifics with regard to the new contract. “I’m very excited,” Tapp said in a telephone interview after the trade. “I have a job. I get an opportunity to play a game that I love to play. …

Seahawks trade Darryl Tapp to Philadelphia
Head coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Schneider continued their makeover of the Seattle Seahawks’ roster on Tuesday, trading defensive end Darryl Tapp to Philadelphia a day after they signed the restricted free agent to a one-year tender. The Seahawks received another defensive end in return, fifth-year pro Chris Clemons, along with a fourth-round draft pick. Tapp is expected to start at defensive end for Philadelphia opposite Pro Bowl defensive end Trent Cole. The Seahawks added more depth on defense later Tuesday by agreeing to terms with veteran linebacker Matt McCoy. The six-year veteran, who has started just two games during the past four seasons, spent the past two years …

Tapp out: Seahawks send end to Philly
The Eagles and Seahawks were talking trade after all. But the two teams weren’t haggling over quarterbacks - or at least not yet. They struck a deal when the Eagles traded defensive end Chris Clemons and a fourth-round pick to Seattle in exchange for defensive end Darryl Tapp. The Eagles also signed the four-year pro to a three-year contract extension, pending a physical, according to a league source. The Eagles not only upgraded at defensive end yesterday, they potentially added a complement to running back LeSean McCoy by signing restricted free agent Mike Bell to an offer sheet. While they spent the first 12 days of free agency addressing some of their in-house issues and signing minor …

Birds deal for defensive end Tapp
As a Seattle Seahawks fan, I try to be as objective and unbiased as possible, but this one simply has me giddy inside so please forgive me. Multiple sources, most notably ESPN’s Sal Paolantonio, have confirmed the Seattle Seahawks have been in consistent contact with the Philadelphia Eagles in regards to Quarterbacks Donovan McNabb and Kevin Kolb. I reported yesterday here that the Seahawks have been linked to Kevin Kolb and at that time nothing was official, but since then , Mr. Sal Pal has certainly added some credibility and a McNabb to boot. Either quarterback would be an upgrade for the Seahawks, (Kolb for being a long term answer), and certainly almost every Seattle fan would trade …
