Westbrook: ‘I will return to the NFL’

Brian Westbrook said yesterday that he has no plans to retire and that his agent already has fielded “three or four” calls from interested teams. A day after the Eagles announced his release, the 30-year-old running back broke his silence and spoke to WPEN-FM (97.5). Westbrook was respectful to the Eagles’ organization and said that he harbored no hard feelings toward the team. Coach Andy Reid delivered the news to Westbrook on Tuesday morning. The running back said it was the first time he had heard anything about being released. He said that he had not heard from owner Jeffrey Lurie or team president Joe Banner, although both members of the front office praised Westbrook on Tuesday. …
